We took a first class bus on our way their, it was SO great! Four hours later we arrived in a new country and explored the city for the rest of the day :)
So funny story about this frame, they have them everywhere for people to take pictures by. So on this one we got the bright idea to take an action shot jumping through the frame...
To say I face planted it is a understatement...apparently my clumsiness followed me across the seas, this fall was not the first and sure won't be the last! Face plant in Riga, check :)
We just happened to walk in this beautiful little spot as the sun was hitting it just right :) In the very back is their freedom monument of a woman with her hands in the air, it was very cool!
Another lock bridge, these are all over the place in Europe, each little lock with a story :)
On Saturday we took a train to a small little town on the cost of the Baltic Sea, or the gulf of Riga to be exact. There were trees (i felt a little more at home) it was a cute woodsy town with old cabins and cottages! This place is really popping i the summer time, hopefully we will make it back when it gets warmer! Something about this little town just stuck with me, I never wanted to leave! Vecaki, I will see you again someday :)
The hair flips :)
Where the train dropped us off in Vecaki, we were pretty worried we were in the middle of no where at first! Hardly anything was open, lucky we eventually found the sea :)
We were like, oh good we can go inside and ask someone for a map or something...nope. Not a door open or a soul in sight, apparently almost everything is shut down for the winter here haha!
Awh aren't we cute :) We had to wait an awful long time in the cold for our train back so Emilie and I decided to take advantage of it.
On our final day we took one more walk about the city :) Riga was similar to Vilnius just taller and more people, no matter how far we walked in just kept going! It's strange how sometimes I forget where I am, I get so used to everything that it just feels like everyday. Then those moments come when I open my eyes a little wider and look around me, I am surround my historic beauty! The detail in every building, the character of it all, and every unique person we meet who shares a part of their story with us...it is a truly blissful world!
One of my favorite parts about this city is how beautiful it gets all night! All those cute street lights and the glow from all the frozen water, and the people! Our nights were full of karaoke and dancing :) I LOVED it! Our last night we found a T.G.I. Fridays!!! It was SO good and flavorful (you don't really get spices often, everything is very bland) we were all so happy to feel a little American comfort!
Some of our friends we meet in Riga :)
Till next time,
paka :)
